Malaria is a potentially fatal infection of the blood caused by a parasite that is carried by mosquitoes. Nearly everyone living in tropical Africa has a malaria episode at least once a year. Martin Luther Church members participated in a “Bite Back Against Malaria” Mission Project during the month of September. We worked through Compassion International to reduce the number of children who suffer from malaria providing nets, education and treatment by raising over $1100 during September.

There was also an unplanned mission project in September. When the need arose, Martin Luther Church felt the need to jump into action and provide some help to those who have endured Hurricanes Harvey and Irma which hit Texas and Florida, respectively.
Members brought supplies which were taken to the Orphan Grain Train warehouse in Lincoln and shipped to areas where Orphan Grain Train is working in those states. Martin Luther Church members were also generous in their monetary donations which were forwarded on to the NALC Disaster Fund to be used in hurricane relief.
Colossians 3:12 – Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
