Rev. William Fruehling served Martin Luther Church for 49 years from July, 1911 to July, 1960. While here at MLC Pastor Fruehling and his wife, Rosa, lived in the church’s parsonage raising six children. On Friday, July 29th two of the remaining sons, Pastor Richard Fruehling of Texas (age 94) and Pastor Erwin Fruehling of Wisconsin (age 91) were welcomed back to Martin Luther Church along with a group of three other generations of the Fruehling family.
Second generation, Dr. Richard and Sandra Fruehling of Grand Island, Nebraska arranged the stop at MLC. The Women’s group of MLC served lunch to 52 Fruehling family members. Several members of MLC came to visit with the group.
The family members traveled by chartered bus making stops at Stateline church, and nearby St. James and Zion Lutheran. While at Martin Luther they looked forward to the time after lunch when they could re-visit the parsonage and reminisce about childhood memories there.
