The Mission Project for the month of September focused on clean water.  We worked through Compassion International on this project.

According to UNICEF, 2.1 billion people have no safe drinking water.   Compassion partners with thousands of local churches in 25 countries to bring safe water and improved sanitation to the children in our care. Clean water helps them stay healthy, remain active in school and focus their energy on overcoming poverty.  Children are kept safe from water-related illnesses like typhoid and cholera. These illnesses are very serious and often keep children from going to school and reaching their full potential.Through the program, children from countries in Africa, Asia, South America and Central America receive safe and clean drinking water to improve their health.  Our donations will provide either water filters or water wells, depending on the area and their needs.

On September 23, we had a social time after the worship service where a demonstration of the water filters was given as well as an opportunity to taste the  “Mercy Meals”  which we had as a Mission Project in June and July.

Our September Mission Project of water filters and wells has final donation figures of $4607 given on location at MLC and $260 given though the on-line donation link for total of $4867.    The spirit of giving is alive at MLC!
